sheet
7.Anti-termite treatment
Each detailed work is described below.
4.1 Preparation
a) Excavation plan drawings shall be approved by the Employer before starting
the work.
b) Confirm that the area to be excavated is free from all the obstacles
including underground service facilities.
c) Investigate the surrounding buildings or structures and record the current
status of them.
4.2 Setting out
a) Offset stakes shall be put at the both ends of the grid lines.
b) Excavation lines shall be marked by lime powder in accordance with the
excavation plan.
4.3 Retaining wall
a) The temporary retaining wall shall be provided where the safe angle of the
excavation slope cannot be obtained in the excavation area deeper than 1.5m.
The location of the temporary retaining walls shall be indicated in the
excavation plan.
b) The structure of the retaining wall shall be given in the excavation plan.
c) The structural soundness of the retaining walls shall be calculated in
accordance with the relevant regulations.
4.4 Excavation, dewatering, leveling and soil disposal
a) Excavation slope angle shall not steeper than 60 degrees from the
horizontal plane in the area deeper than 1.5m.
b) In case of heavy rain is expected, excavated slope shall be protected with
covering sheet.
c) Dewatering system shall be indicated in the excavation plan.
d) Final leveling shall be made manually surveying with a level.
e) Excavated soil shall be taken from the site because there is little room
for stock in the site. Disposal site shall be approved by the relevant
authorities.
4.5
Gravel and lean concrete
a)
The gravel shall be
provided under the lean concrete. The gravel shall be crusher run 40-0 and the
thickness is 50mm.
b)
The gravel shall be
compacted with a compaction plate of 90 kg.
c)
The lean concrete shall be
provided under the pile caps and the ground beams. No lean concrete shall be
provided under the slab on grade.
d)
The lean concrete shall
have the 28day strength of 15 MPa. However, no strength test shall be
implemented because the lean concrete has no structural meaning. Instead
dispatch note of the concrete plant shall be kept as an evidence of the usage.
e)
The thickness of the lean
concrete shall be 50mm. The edge of the lean concrete shall be 50mm from the
surface of the concrete structure. Top of the lean concrete shall be leveled
smooth by wooden trowels.
4.6
Backfill and damp-proof sheet
a)
Material for the backfill
shall be selected from the excavated material which is free from injurious
matter. Backfilling materials shall be deposited in layers not exceeding 250mm in
uncompacted thickness. Each layer shall be well compacted before depositing the
following layers.
b)
The damp proof sheet shall
be polyethene sheet of 0.15mm in thickness and shall be laid under the concrete
slab on grade touching directly to the soil.
4.7 Anti-termite treatment
Anti-termite treatment shall be executed to
the soil inside the building area and 3m extent from the edge of the building.
It shall be executed by a licensed specialist and shall be guaranteed for ten
years by the Contractor.
4.8
Quality control
a) The Contractor shall prepare a self -inspection sheet for the earth work
and inspect the works according to the sheet at the end of each procedure of
the works.
b) After successfully passing the above self-inspection, the Sub-contractor is

persons on the site to recognize the actual work to be executed and foresee the
danger related to the work.
d) Construction machines shall be checked every day before starting the work.
The record of the checking shall be filed in the work record.
